I like to play music from archives by drag and dropping mp3's from an archive to audacious/smplayer or vlc.
this does not work. It should extract the file to /tmp and play it.

Pressing "preview" works, but this don't

Changing the default assignee in the currently open Ark bug reports to me.

I think this feature would need support both from Ark *and* VLC/Audacious/whatever, so it sounds like something really hard.

Confirming for now, but marking as very low priority, as you can both preview or directly open a song in the default music player. Patches are welcome.

Still a issue in 2022. To be fair i tested in XFCE with Ark. But that should not matter right?
