Description Dotan Cohen 2009-08-24 10:29:43 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Currently there is no way to add Storage devices, Trash, Home, and Network folders to the desktop for users of the Show Folder (non-default) desktop view. Most other DE's, including Gnome and KDE 3, have this feature. Please add it. Thanks.

This feature already became a standard for various DEs.

I would like icons representing removable devices (CD/DVD/flash-disk/camera) to be placed onto the desktop when a media is inserted/plugged in. I would like to be able to use the icon to mount/unmount the devices (if applicable), and remove/eject them. It also would be nice if icons corresponding to devices with static mount points would be placed every at occasion at the same position.
The device notifier applet on the panel is not an adequate replacement for the above approach.

This can be achieved by implementing Places support in folderview. Thus, this request is a duplicate of 178111.
