Description Anne Wilson 2009-08-21 11:51:00 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

With video cards where desktop effects are not practicable, Lancelot displays the logout menu, for instance, as black text on black background, so that you are reliant on the icon for navigation.

Which theme are you using? And, could you post a screenshot please?

Oxyglass. With desktop effects enabled the result is pleasing - the black border disappears, as well. However, on this hardware screen repaints are painfully slow in that case. Attachment follows

Could you please check whether this also happens with other* themes? If not, then
you should report this bug to the Oxyglass author.

* other as in themes that ship with KDE (oxygen, air, slim-glow, heron, elegance)

You could well have the right answer, though I'm unable to state that categorically. There is no problem with oxygen, air or elegance. Slim-glow was installed, but refused to display - whenever I set it to that, nothing changed, and going back to desktop settings showed that the previous theme was still active. I uninstalled it from the More Themes window, then re-installed it. I also installed heron. Neither of them show up in the list of available themes. Neither logging out and back in nor rebooting has refreshed the list. If you can tell me how to do that I'll check the other two.

If Air and Oxygen work, the other /default/ themes should also (all Lancelot themes share most of the files with Oxygen - since they are mainly black) so this is definityle Oxyglass issue.

Unfortunately I have no idea why your theme dialogue doesn't work as expected. You should probably report a separate bug for that (if there isn't already a bug that deals with that).
