Description Angel Blue01 2009-08-20 21:05:31 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

After upgrading to KDE 4.3.0 from 4.3 RC1, Digikam does not seem to write metadata (caption and tags) to files.

Entering a caption and clicking the Apply button on the Caption/Tags panel writes the caption and tags to the Digikam database but does not write to the files.

This can be verified by using the Edit EXIF or Edit ITPC or Edit XMP commands in Image > Metadata or in Gwenview.

Using the Tools > Synchronize All Images with Database command does not write anything either, although there are no errors, according to Digikam the command finishes successfully.

Using the Images > Metadata > Edit Captions command does display the caption and will write it to the file once the OK button is pressed.

This should probably be under the Metadata component, but I did not see a step in the new bug wizard to assign to select that.

Which version of digiKam you use ?

Look setup/metadata configuration panel.

This is: Version 1.0.0-beta3
Using KDE 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0) "release 155"

Build date: Aug 15 2009

Under Settings > Configure digiKam > Metadata:

EXIF Actions

Show image/thumbnails rotated according to orientation tag -checked
Set orientation to normal after rotate/flip -checked

Common Metadata Actions

Save image tags as "Keywords" tag -checked
Save metadata template as tags -unchecked
Save image captions as embedded text -checked
Save image timestamps as tags -unchecked
Save image ratings as tags -checked
Write Metadata to RAW files (experimental) -grayed out
Update file timestamp when Metadata are saved -unchecked

I did not change any of these settings between KDE 4.3 RC2 and KDE 4.3 final

Cannot reproduce that here. Maybe the libkexiv2 version changed during the upgrade and there is an incompatibility now?
Comment 5 Angel Blue01 2009-09-11 22:03:25 UTC
I have libkexiv2-3 version 0.1.7-49.21 and libkexiv2-7 version 4.3.1-120.4 installed

This should be closed, it is not present in KDE SC 4.4 or later
