Description kavol 2009-08-20 13:41:45 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

NARROW NO-BREAK SPACE (U+202F) is roughly the non-breaking equivalent of the THIN SPACE (U+2009) (please refer to http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U2000.pdf).

But it does not get displayed as a space, if I insert it somewhere into the text, there is no visible difference, unlike after inserting THIN SPACE, that works ok and displays a space.

This character is needed (also) to display the short form of the Czech dates (DateFormatShort) correctly (there has to be thin space after the dots, but the short form of the date cannot be divided at the end of the line).

Happens to me on KDE 4.11.0. In Kate, and Dolphin, System Settings, etc (so I can confirm the bugs live somewhere on KDElibs).

In Kate, if I put some non-breaking space, it displays a dot (because Kate displays a dot to see spaces) but it doesn’t move the cursor one character to the right, so we can enter as many as non-breaking space as we like, the cursor stay at the same place.

It’s really annoying because narrow non-breaking space is frequently used in French (before !, ?, ;, after « and before », and some others cases).

It’s working on Plasma 5.
