Sentry Crash Report:

Description Frederic Gedin 2009-08-20 07:31:40 UTC
Version: 10.0.0 beta3 (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: MS Windows
Installed from: MS Windows

Once the initial wizard has been completed, Digikam is launched but when available, no picture is displayed and no album has been created. The option for creating an album is not available.
Looking in the configuration, I see that no local collection has been created. Any attempts to create a new local collection from the configuration window leads to the following message : « Le dossier sélectionné n'existe pas ou n'est pas lisible. » (the selected directory does not exist or is not readable).
Same problem with collections created on removable media

10.0.0-beta3 is too old. please update to stable release 10.0.0

Oh, it's 1.0, not 10.0...

Check if all KDE core components are installed to run kioslave...

I could confirm this behaviour too.
Selecting stable KDE 4.2 relase from within the installer, everything runs fine (but older digikam versions though).

Selecting unstable latest or stable 4.3, i get same results described in the bug.
Installed every package with the installer and no better results.

Also opening a raw file with dngconverter on windows (xp 32bits sp2), it shows "open dialog", i can select files and click OK... but file don't appear inside.

I think this bug is related.

I can imagine that the same fix can be applied for this bug and 204482.
However the behavior of the application is not exactly the same on the two situations : one one I do not get any error message while on the other one an error message is displayed.

I really think they're related... like seems related when you try to open a raw file with showfoto using the "raw import tool", where "Cannot decode RAW image" message is shown.

Pasted components info window from latest showfoto Windows build:

If you really think they are related I can mark one of them as related. If your are right, it will be fine. If you are not, I can still re-mark it as unconfirmed.

Frédéric
