Description Jay LaCroix 2009-08-19 19:06:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

After using KDE 4.3.0 for a while, I noticed that the "cashew" icon on the top right of the screen has completely lost it's relevance.

For starters, all of the functionality from the cashew icon exists elsewhere in the desktop, most of the time in the right click menus. For example, you can right click the desktop to add, unlock, or lock widgets. You don't need the cashew icon to do any of those things.

Second zooming out of the desktop to zoom in to another activity is awkward and weird. Plasma activities and virtual desktops can be combined, so using the desktop pager you automatically switch activities when you switch virtual desktops. To me, that's a cleaner and more efficient way of handling it.

This is just a suggestion, but I think removing the cashew icon should be considered, it has no exclusive functionality that you can't get elsewhere.

This is NOT a duplicate of bug 154535. That bug is in regards to setting up an option to remove the cashew icon, whereas with mine I was wishing for it to be removed completely. There is no need for the cashew icon at all since _ALL_ of it's functionality exists elsewhere.

I'm quite agree, i never use this icon...
