Description Oliver K 2009-08-14 12:37:29 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

In earlier versions it was possible to manually compress IMPA folders (that means deleting mails that have been marked for deletion, which are not shown in kmail).

In kmail 1.12.0 those menu entries are not available anymore. Kmail auto-compresses a folder when you open another folder.

Unfortunately kmail shows new mails in a folder (in this case a shared folder) which are already marked for deletion by other users (with different mail programs). When I open this folder there are no new mails. This behaviour is rather annoying! Though auto-compression doensn't seem to work correctly here, because those "new/deleted" messages are indicated as new messages in this folder still after I changed to another folder.

A good solution would be to ignore mails that are already marked for deletion when counting new mails for a folder. Another solution would be to bring back the "compress folder now" or the "compress all folders now" menu entry.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
