- How many image files were the time you experienced the freeze with Gwenview? This could be related to bug 201860. Thanks (In reply to comment #1) > - How many image files were the time you experienced the freeze with Gwenview? > This could be related to bug 201860. > Thanks Thanks for the quick reply... There are 475 files. Many of them have large resolutions(2996x2000). I think KIO_Thumbnail may be the culprit. I was watching it and it created several instances while making previews in Dolphin. It does look like the same bug... if you think that is the case could you move it to the other one and confirm it? Motivated by bug 203628 I should ask: do you have mplayerthumbs enabled ? Thanks I'm pretty sure I don't have mplayer thumbs because I don't get video thumbnails. It happens when loading image thumbnails and unlike the bug your mentioning the error is unrecoverable. I end up having to do a hard reboot. I even tried leaving it overnight to see if it finishes but it does not. Tries to generate thumbnails and then locks the system up. I have found my problem to be Kubuntu's wubi installation defaulting the swap file size to 256 MB. This caused havoc on my system. Sorry for the inconvenience. I tested the large files again in GwenView and had one lock up after resizing my swap file. Overall the process is taking up all my system resources and it is impossible to do anything while it is busy. The previewing process still needs to be throttled in my opinion. Should I open a bug report for this? |
