Description Harry 2009-08-11 18:49:25 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I would like to have a way to backup my e-mail from Kmail, and possibly a restore function in case of a hard drive crash.

It is fairly easy to back up contacts, calendar, notes in the Kontact PIM, not so with the mail.

Since Kubuntu 8.04, I have looked in the mail directory in kde/share/kmail, and have not seen files stored there, except ones in the trash folders.

I suppose this is all stored in a SQL database somewhere on the disk via Akomadi, But where?

I'm not that good in scripting, so having a function in the program would be the way to go.

With upgrading, and installing Kubuntu on other machines, have had to use Import from Thunderbird mail to re-create the maildir. ( Kinda like dual- book keeping, to not lose any data.)
