Description Emmanuel Surleau 2009-08-10 00:41:22 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

I am using the "Separate activities for each dashboard" plasma setting. After rebooting, for one of my workspaces:
- the wrong wallpaper was displayed
- plasmoids were only visible on the dashboard, but not on the desktop itself.
After zooming out, and zooming back on the same desktop, the correct wallpaper was displayed, but the plasmoids are now only visible on the desktop, but not on the dashboard.

After zooming out, I noticed that there was one more activity than available dashboards. I get the impression that this greatly confused plasma. I don't know where said activity comes from, though, as I removed my plasma configuration files after switching to 4.3.

isn't the use separate dashboard option on riight? because it's what is supposed to happen in this case...
Comment 3 Emmanuel Surleau 2009-12-16 23:03:21 UTC
That's possible. I've just tried it out and it seems to be behaving this way. But it seems to affect the 'widgets per desktops' setting (after I went back to change the setting, the 'widgets per desktops' checkbox was not ticked).
And now I have a weird issue after zooming in... I can access three of my desktops, but the fourth is a new desktop, with the default wallpaper. The 4 wallpapers are still visible in the zoomed out view.

Can you try this with a new user account to see if it is reproducible?

If so, can you provide step-by-step instructions for how to reproduce it?

I'm not sure how to go about trying to test this to see if this bug still exists and/or try to figure out what is wrong.

Waiting for feedback.

Sorry for not replying earlier, the automatic notification mail must have gotten lost in a flurry of KDE-related mails.

> Can you try this with a new user account to see if it is reproducible?

Hmm... difficultly. It has happened randomly maybe two or three times since. I have no idea how to reproduce it consistently.

If so, can you provide step-by-step instructions for how to reproduce it?

exists and/or try to figure out what is wrong.

I've found the plasma-desktop-appletsrc which got loaded back then. I don't have the "correct" version before the breakage, but I have one I reconstructed by hand from the broken version. I'm going to attach them to the bug report as plasma-desktop-appletsrc--five_activities and plasma-desktop-appletsrc--reconstructed_by_hand respectively.

Broken config file

This is the file which got loaded by plasma and is incorrect.

Config file reconstructed by hand

This is the file I reconstructed by hand from plasma-desktop-appletsrc--five_activities. It should be close to what my plasma-desktop-appletsrc was before the breakage.

Thanks

zooming ui has been removed, this becomes a non-issue.
