Description m.wege 2009-08-03 22:06:53 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.98)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When I try to add an email to Kaddressbook from with in Kmail this fails. Kmail asks me in which folder to put it, but the overview is empty. So I have to cancel. Then there is btw a second bug. After canceling, I am being told that the address was successfully added to the addressbook.
I am using Kaddressbook with the compatibility-ressource of akonadi. Interaction between e.g. Kopete and the addressbook works fine.

what do you exactly do for adding the address from kmail to kaddressbook?

right click on an email address and then "add to addressbook"

Thanks.

I've tried using two file resources (not akonadi).

- the resource list is not empty, but clicking on a resource simply close the dialog. the address is not added to the addressbook and no confirmation dialog appears

- if I press "cancel" on the resources list, the dialog is closed but no dialog is opened to inform me that the address has been successfully added.

I'm using trunk r1005944.

This problem may be still present in the KDE 4.3.0 release (Gentoo). However, both kaddressbook, and selecting an address for a new email, seem to work perfectly fine.

There is a simple 'workaround' to the empty folder list (as mentioned originally by m.wege@web.de):
1. Close kmail (not minimize, close) and start it again,
2. The very first attempt (and only the first) to add to the addressbook works correctly (although the cancel button still produces the incorrect dialog box).

Moreover, a similar problem (the cancel button part) was also mentioned in the bug #202070.

Now works again in KDE 4.4 RC2. I close the report.
