currently the workflow is: 1 - when application window is NOT minimized: 1.1 - if application is focused: -> click on taskbar item = app is minimized 1.2 - if applictaion is not focused : -> click on taskbar item = app is focused 2 - application window is minimized: -> click on taskbar item = app is maximized and focused Do you want to remove the point 1.1? If the application is focused it shouldn't be necessary to click on the relative task, or not? > Do you want to remove the point 1.1? Yes > If the application is focused it shouldn't > be necessary to click on the relative task, or not? When there are a mess of open (but not maximized) windows, often look at the taskbar to find the one that I need, and click on it. Furthermore, Compiz (and I think KDE itself as well) can be configured to darken non-active windows. This could lead to a situation in which the user would click the taskbar item of a window in order to make it the active window, even if it is already visible on the screen. In short, I would never click on the taskbar item of a window that I want to minimize, I would only click on the taskbar item of a window that I want to work in. So no matter what state that window is in, I want it focused and active when I click the taskbar item. Created attachment 38026 [details]

Uh, that went to the wrong bug report; sorry for that.
Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
