I "lost" mail of two recent months. I considered it wise to re-generate the index files, so chose the "regenerate the index" option in kmail GUI, I did NOT delete the existing index files. My mail box has records of mail over the last 4 years, so it is a fairly big one. This action provoked the crash. As you have not installed the debug-files, the backtrace is not really useful. If you encounter the crash again, please install the debug-packages and attach a full backtrace and reopen. Up till that, I will close this bug entry. Thanks for advice. I will promptly install the debug packages. I am experiencing a very slow mail downloads at the moment with the KMail GUI page going periodically going dark, recovering. I can hear disk aktivity on the "box" (amd64 dual processor PC, 250 GB Sata hdd). There is a slight possibility that the unusually long delays are caused by somehow filled up "PO box" at the server and I will investigate this possibility first. Actually, I was about to give up on my cherished KMail for some other mail client. My OS is ubuntu 9.04. I am an "immigrant" from the suse KDE environment, so many of the programs I use are from KDE world. Thanks for your advice - I will proceed to install the debug package and we shall see what we shall see. Al.
