Description Christian 2009-07-29 10:38:28 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unspecified Linux

I'm working on Arch Linux, I can login into my account from kdm (so I can type the password) but when the desktop is shown my keyboard doesn't work!! I can't reach the consoles, can't try a ctrl-alt-canc.. nothing!

The mouse runs right, so I can logout

If I try in any other account I have no problems

Probably related to bug 171685.
Thanks

Not related to that bug. From the description i would say there is something in the user profile that messes with the keyboard. If switching to a console doesn't work anymore that means it is a problem with x11. kde could not make that fail.

Create a new account and copy your profile step by step over.

Look at files like .Xmodmaprc, .Xdefaults, .XSession, everything in .kde/env and your settings in systemsettings -> regional&settings -> keyboard layout. disable keyboard layouts and try again.

I recreated the account and the problem disappeared, anyway now I run on kde 4.3 and the keyboard runs perfectly
