Currently (v. 2.13) you extract a single file by dragging and dropping from ark window. You can also extract multiple files of an archive by selecting them while holding control and clicking extract.

However, if you try to drag and drop a selection of files, only the one being dragged is extracted as the rest is unselected immediately. I think ark should extract those files instead.
