Description Steff 2009-07-19 11:11:25 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
Compiler: cc (Ubuntu 4.3.3-5ubuntu4) 4.3.3
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

At startup Amarok needs access to both, the database and the file-collection. If one of these is temporarily unavailable Amarok looses the collection an a re-scan needs to be performed. Is there a way to leave the collection untouched, or ask the user if it should scratch or not, exit if the user wants to take measures prior to startup.

Think of 65'000 soundfiles on an NFS mount which dangles. For me, it takes 30 seconds to fix that, but almost 16 hours to re-scan the collection...

you forgot to specify your amarok version.
make sure you're using 2.1.1 at least
