Sentry Crash Report:

Description Oliver Henshaw 2009-07-09 17:19:00 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

When installing packages with kpackagekit, both the "Downloading Packages" and "Installing Packages" dialog boxes constantly resize as the length of the package descriptions changes. This is quite unsettling.

I'm not a UI expert, but perhaps wrapping the longest lines and/or not shrinking the dialog box for the shortest lines would help?

I don't know which of rpm Name, Summary or Description kpackagekit makes use of. ISTR some attempt to ensure RPM summaries were kept quite short so I don't know if that's still part of the problem.

Affected packages:
kpackagekit-0.4.1.1-1.fc11.i586
PackageKit-0.4.8-1.fc11.i586

Confirmed (Kubuntu Karmic, KDE 4.3.4)
Comment 2 Daniel Nicoletti 2009-12-28 14:08:58 UTC
It's somehow fixed on newer (0.5.x) versions.
