Description Burkhard Lück 2009-07-09 15:19:09 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

Since 4.0 until recent trunk r993749 the akonadi server has an i18n bug, the translated entries (Name + Comment) from the desktop files are not used.
Name + Comment are always displayed in english, though the translations are in the desktop files.
To check this launch "kcmshell4 kcm_akonadi" in another locale than en_US and click the "Add" button.
In the dialog labelled "KDE Control Module" - its that a proper name?) all items are displayed in english, but in the relevant desktop files these items (Name, Comment) are translated.

Here it is, tested with language x-test and de:
- Some entries are translatable now:
Notes, Microblog (Twitter and Identi.ca), Mbox, Kolab Groupware Server, IMAP E-Mail Server, Birthdays & Anniversaries and all Akonadi resources.
But there is an encoding problem, the german umlauts are not displayed properly.

- All other entries (DistributionList File, ICal Calender File, KDE Addressbook (traditional), KDE Calender (traditional), Knut, Localbooksmarks, Mail Threader Agent, Maildir, Mailody Imap, Nepomuk Contact Feeder, Nepomuk EMail Feeder, Nepomuk Tgs (Virtual Folders), Strigi Feeder, Unsenet Newsgroups (NNTP), VCard Directory, VCard File), are untranslated and only the name is displayed, the comment is missing.

- Running in language de, i have the encoding problems and not all Akonadi resources display the comment as in language x-text

Summary: A partial success
Comment 3 Tom Albers 2009-07-16 21:20:27 UTC
The problem with 1/2 resources translated and the other 1/2 not, does not happen for me, tested in NL and DE and seems highly unlikely too ;-)

The encoding problem is fixed with an updated patch on reviewboard.
