Description philipmac1 2009-07-08 07:43:33 UTC
Version: 0.8.7 (using 3.5.10, Kubuntu (jaunty) 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-1ubuntu8)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.28-13-generic

I insert a DVD and press play DVD in kaffeine. This is after waiting a second, ten seconds or 10 minutes. However unless I've made the dvd do something via device notifier it comes up with this error message and wont work until I go back to device notifyer and select something (like load in dolphin as the no nothing option doesn't help)

This DVD Video is encrypted. To be able to watch it you will need to install libdvdcss by running from a console: sudo /usr/share/doc/kaffeine/install-css.sh. In some countries it is illegal to install the decryption software without permission from the video copyright holder.

This bug is too old, for a version < 1.3. Closing it, as the latest version is 2.0.1, and lots of things changed since version 1.2.x, including the usage of VLC as video display backend, support for DVB-T2 and ISDB-T via libVLC, etc.

You may check on the upstream version and see if the bug was solved. The README file contains instructions about how to compile it. You can find it at our git repository:

https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kaffeine.git

If you find similar issues with version 2.0.1, please re-open.
