What I was doing when the application crashed:
Kopete krashes immediately on startup, no matter what I do.  Deleting the configuration does not help.

turn off the facebook plugin and see if that helps. 

kopete --disable facebook 

from the command line or the Run Command Interface should do the trick.

After recompiling the facebook plugin against the latest version of Kopete, the problem goes away.  Kopete now works fine, except for crashing on exit, like this:

@Michael: for next reports, try to not mix different backtraces (or situations) in the same report, as it difficults a bit organizing the reports. 

Now, could you recompile the Facebook plugin with debug symbols to get a complete backtrace?
