Every time I change desktop effects, change theme or similar panel size is reverted to default. This is extremely annoying. Given the number of configurable visual effects, user may need quite a long experimentation to find optimal settings.

This happens at least when panel size was made smaller. I prefer two panels on top and bottom and make them approximately half of the default size.
