I have noticed this as well when running on battery power. I had set my back light to minimum, and when the battery dropped below 25%, and 15%, the screen got brighter. Also, when the battery got to 10% and lower, the back light would just shut off every minute or so, and I had to blindly turn it back up. I think this is a duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=194807 *** Bug 194807 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** This bug has been confirmed by popular vote. *** This bug (or wish as it is called here...though I think it's really a bug) is still present in KDE 4.4.1. KDE 4.5.0: bug is still here... *** Bug 231413 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I was about to submit this exact same bug (ain't a wish) running 4.6beta2 on ubuntu 10.10 Another weird thing is that when the screen goes off (or you close the lid and open it again) and you move your mouse to make it on again the brightness reverts back to the profile setting and not to the brightness you had set manually (I usually have the brightness at lowest) I just encountered this bug with KDE 4.6.4. *** Bug 271659 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** The behavior was bugging me a bit too much a certain day and I created a patch that I posted in my duplicate bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=271659#c0 Not sure if it's the desired behavior but it is at least a suggestion for the maintainer.
