OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

Hi,

Okular displays large or complex PDF files quite slow on my computer (AMD64 X2 4200+, 2 GB RAM, Geforce 6600 GT with nvidia drivers). For a complex file see the file "uestra.de_Hannover_2009.pdf" that is a map of public transport that seems to have a lot of vector data. Okular does display it very slowly. Adobe Reader 9.1 display is faster.

Another example is a PDF file is an advertising with a lot of bitmap data: "mediamarkt.de_prospekt.pdf". Here Adobe Reader 9.1 is slower but even still faster than Okular.

What do you think? Can Okular display is faster? Maybe using another CPU core using multithreading?

TIA Martin

Hi,

Okular does not load and render PDF documents by itself, bu uses an external library called Poppler.
If you think rendering time is slow, please report the problem to the Poppler's bug tracking system: https://bugs.freedesktop.org, "poppler" product.
Okular cannot do anything on its side to influence Poppler's rendering speed.

Possibly one or more of the following poppler bug reports are relevant:
