Description Andreas Tiemeyer 2009-06-18 09:45:45 UTC
Version:           0.9.5-0 (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS:                MS Windows
Installed from:    MS Windows

When running the KDE installer I end up with an empty list of releases and cannot continue.
My steps:
1. run kdewin-installer-gui-latest
2. select 'install from internet'; next
3. accept default installation directory; next
4. select 'end user'; next;
5. select download path; next;
6. select 'i have direct internet connection'; next
7. select a server; next (I have tried UK, NL and Germany, all with the same result)
8. The page with 'Release selection' is empty

So basically I'm using only the default selections, and still the installation fails before it even starts.

I would like to confirm this.

In the download location there should be a file kdewin-installer.log,. Could you please append this as attachment ?

Comment 4 Ralf Habacker 2009-07-24 19:17:24 UTC
At the end of the log it says:
[2009-07-24 10:38:58] Warning: gui\releaseselectionpage.cpp 78 release  QUrl( "http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/latest/" )  not found on this server

The choosen mirror does not have the required directory.

You may choose another mirror. At least the master server http://www.winkde.org/pub/kde/ports/win32/releases/ should have always up to date releases.

Thanks, that worked. Would it be possible to include the master server in the server listing no matter what? That way, if none of the mirrors are current, it would still be able to pull a release down.
