Sentry Crash Report:

Description Arne Babenhauserheide 2009-06-15 19:58:45 UTC
Version: 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4) (using 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4), Gentoo)
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.29-hh2

I just selected a bunch of my bookmarks and tried to cut'n'paste them into a folder.

keditbookmarks crashed and all my bookmarks were lost.

Then I reopened keditbookmarks in the hopes that I might be able to paste again, but I couldn't, and .kde/share/apps/konqueror/bookmarks.xml.bak only has the same contents as .kde/share/apps/konqueror/bookmarks.xml.bak

Sorry for writing while still frustrated - you're writing KDE for free, and I did ignore all strange feelings ("I shouldn't cut; I should copy instead... too late...")

I hope I could help a bit so others don't get bitten by this.

sorry, incorrect information:

> keditbookmarks crashed and all my bookmarks were lost.

should read "all cut bookmarks where lost".

Sorry for being too careless...

If you can reproduce the crash at will, may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here? Thanks

BTW: Keditbookmars is TOO buggy right now. But there is a GSOC project to rewrite it: http://edulix.wordpress.com/2009/06/15/gsoc-biweekly-report-state-of-the-bookmarks-editor/
