The original report contains incorrect values of screen resolutions. THIS IS CORRECT: External monitor: 1680 x 1050 native. Laptop monitor: 1280 x 800 native. I have a very similar Problem with sidux / KDE 4.3.2 on a laptop (intel graphics). I have connected a external Monitor (1680x1050) and after i have logged in, the mouse pointer is invisible. If i move the mouse, items on the desktop or in the taskbar get highlighted and i can click on them, so the mouse works, but it is not displayed. If i switch to a tty (Strg-Alt-F1) and back to KDE, the pionter appears. Can't say, if the mouse pointer is shown on the laptop's internal screen, because it's not working at all (it's active, but displays online fancy lines.. but that's a hardware problem ;-) ) I have the same problem with Debian testing and KDE 4.3.2 on my external 1920x1200 LCD. As soon as I switch from the laptop panel to the external monitor, the mouse pointer disappears. If I lock and unlock the screen, the mouse pointer reappears and remains visible for the rest of the session. This only happens without kernel mode setting. Maybe it is a bug in the intel driver? Can you guys please fix this 5-year-old bug?.. It makes KDE completely unusable with my new monitor I bought.. EVERY time I turn the monitor off, and then back on the mouse cursor disappears for ever.....It isn't even invisible, it just isn't there at all.. The monitor is hooked up to a laptop.. Also, for some reason, on the password screen, the keyboard doesn't work either (after the mouse disappears)!...... I literally can not use KDE until this bug is fixed, or until some one tells me a work-around! Unless I want to keep my monitor on 24 hours with out ever turning it off, even when I sleep.....which would be a ridiculous waste of power and wear on the monitor.. I can help as much as I can by giving any one any information they need from my system.. I really can't use KDE any more until this bug is fixed!.. But gnome and others suck.. ;( I updated some stuff, and now my mouse and keyboard don't get disabled but..... The mouse cursor still disappears EVERY time I turn off and on my monitor! That is very annoying every time I come back to use my computer.. Does any one know a work-around for this until it is finally fixed?.. Is there some command that can make the mouse appear again?.. Does the cursor also disappear on non-KDE applications, e.g. on Firefox? Yes, it is also invisible over firefox/iceweasel and synaptic (both GTK applications).. I have found a work-around that I have to do every time I turn on the monitor: I have a shortcut key (control+P) set-up on mine to open a konsole window.. After the konsole window is open, I try to put my mouse cursor over the main black console part of konsole (I right-click and see where the context menu appears to see where the mouse cursor is), and then I push control+D to exit out of konsole.. For some reason that makes the mouse appear.. However, if the mouse cursor is NOT over the black part when I push control+D to close konsole, the mouse does not reappear.. The way konsole works is, it makes the mouse disappear if it is over the black part and you start typing, so it makes sense that konsole would make the cursor reappear when you close it because it wants to make sure your mouse isn't still gone when it closes.. Although actually, for me, the mouse cursor is even invisible on the laptop screen too.. Related: bug 337592. Can you please check if setting the mouse cursor size to a fixed value resolves this issue? Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been stagnant for a long time.
