Description Dylon 2009-06-11 00:53:07 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Compiler: GCC 4.4.0
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

*** Summary ***

Whenever KWin compositing is toggled on and off (usually no more than 2 times each), my Plasma panel will resize itself, growing from 32 pixels to about 38 pixels.

*** Expanded Description ***

I first noticed this running 4.2.x whenever I would move my laptop from one location to another. I would unplug it from one location, which would cause PowerDevil to suspend compositing until I would plug it back in at the next; if I did that more than once, my panel would grow, and being a fan of thin panels, this became rather annoying :(

The bug still exists in KDE Trunk.

*** Reproduction ***

Just open `System Settings -> Desktop -> Desktop Effects -> General (Tab)' and toggle KWin's compositing a couple times (with a thin panel, about 32 pixels vertically).

*** Specs ***

Linux Kernel (2.6.29.4)
KDE Trunk (4.2.91)
Xorg-Server (1.6.1.901)
Asus G1S-X3 (laptop)
Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT (proprietary driver, 185.18.14 beta)
Intel Core2 Duo T7500

Sorry about that :)

I looked for my bug to bookmark it, but couldn't find it -- so I created another one ... you probably have better things to do than chase my dups around, I'll be more careful next time.

thanks; it happens. easiest way to find your bugs, though, is to click on the "my bugs" link on the left side of the page :)

it wasn't a big deal this time, though, as i remembered seeing it earlier and just looked through the log on irc to find it (we have a bug bot there, lovely thing)

As of revision 980844 (updated today, shut my computer down for a little more than 5 seconds to clear the RAM, and then booted back up), this bug still exists -- do I need to delete my Plasma config and start with a new one?

Well, maybe it's not supposed to be fixed yet -- I've just connected the "RESOLVED" status to the "Resolution: duplicate of ..." tag :P I'll direct my future comments to that thread.
