Description FiNeX 2009-06-03 13:52:12 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
1) configure an IMAP Gmail account. It will download the remote Gmail IMAP folders structure

2) click to "[Gmail]" folder (which contains "outbox", "trash", "drafts", "Spam", "Special" and "all messages").

An error message will appear:

"Error while querying the server status.
Unable to open folder [Gmail]. The server replied: Unknown Mailbox: [Gmail] (now in authenticated state) (Failure)"

Kubuntu 10.04
KDE 4.4.4

After configuring a few GMail accounts as IMAP in Kmail, I set them to check every 5 minutes. I also right-clicked on the account in the folder list to remove server side subscriptions to the folders under [Gmail]. I got a question if I wanted to enable subscriptions and confirmed this.

Now I get this message every time a Gmail account is checked:

Error while getting folder information.
Unable to get information about folder [Gmail]. The server replied: Invalid folder: [Gmail] (Failure)

Is there a known workaround for this problem (except turning e-mail checking off - the whole point of adding it in Kmail is to check it...)?

The same problem with kde 4.6rc1 and kontakt4.6b3

I, too, have this problem. I had successfully worked around it, but then all my mail settings got lost, and it's back again. If I remember how I worked around this issue, I'll report back here.

Workaround working for me is:
1) Chose "menage local subscriptions"
2) Deselect [Gmail] folder it cause to diaper its subfolders
3) Restart Kontact/KMail
4) [Gmail] should be still unchecked but its subfolders should return and problem should gone

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
