Description Dominic Lyons 2009-05-28 00:05:10 UTC
Version: 0.10.0 (using KDE 4.2.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Diashow isn't very scalable if an amount of pictures is selected.

For example I've got an album incluging some more than 6500 pictures. On starting the diashow with all subalbums then it takes some time until the diashow gets started - well, I don't know why waiting is necessary (other tools, for example Gwenview or IrfanView (Windows) don't need a waiting time) but at least a progress bar is shown and it.

If I open this album as advanced diashow it takes an hour or more(!) until the settings are shown.
To be more precise: After some while (maybe a minute?) the settings window itself is shown but it is clear and has no form elements. The PC gets quite useless as digikam grabs a lot of resources for a long time - without a progress bar or something being shown. I can't really say what digiKam is doing as the necessary informations should be stored in database already.
After waiting a long time the setting window is shown. I can start the diashow now but it is anything else than fluent.

Ok, of course it's not normal to start a diashow with this amount of pictures but as in my case this can happen accidentally and there's neither a hint to see what digiKam is doing nor to interrupt this.

Oh, it seems to be called "slideshow" not "diashow" in English...

As it seems I can't set the Component to slideshow.
