Where a tooltip has been shown, the part of an application window it was drawn over becomes transparent, as if there's a hole in it, so the wallpaper is visible through it. See attached picture for an example.

I have tried using a different theme, in case it was a but in the one I was using (Oxygen) but that makes no difference.

To reproduce:
Hover over either an application icon or taskbar entry so that the tooltip appears. Now move out of the area so it disappears. Then hover over another icon or taskbar entry. As the new tooltip appears, the area where the previous one was becomes transparent.

This doesn't happen 100% of the time; unfortunately I haven't managed to work out any pattern behind when it does or doesn't occur.

Probably a graphics driver issue. What card/driver are you using? X server?

This is clearly a Xorg bug, I was able to write a xlib-only testcas (as I was asked for), but then nothing happend.
