(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kmail
Version: 1.2 (KDE 2.1 Beta 2)
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Debian unstable (Sid)
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010111 (prerelease)
OS: Linux 2.4.1-pre9 i686 (Debian Package 4:2.1-beta2-3 (testing/unstable))

It would be nice if one could give Names to the filters
one has defined for kmail. These could then be displayed
in the filter configuration dialog instead of the
complicated and not so easy to read
"<from:>someone@anywhere.org" lines which do not always
fit into the widget.

It would also be nice if one could group filters
together to make arrangements like the nested mailbox
folders. This would make it possible to e.g. group all
filters dealing with mailing lists together under a folder
"Mailinglist filters". The filters would the be applied
one folder after another and filter by filter in the
indicated order (just the way it is now just recursively
through the folders)

BTW: Kmail is great! ;-)

Hi,

That's a great idea !
Grouping filters in folders would be a very nice usability improvement !

And yes, KMail is getting Greatter and greatter thanks to yall :)))

Half this wish is fulfilled with the filter rename button.

As to the grouping, I also would like to see something like this. Rather than a
filter list, a filter tree would be nice. A tree is just a list for those who
don't make nested branches, so it doesn't really add complexity for those who
don't use it. But for those who do... it would be a godsend.
