Many webpages assume that the rendering engine draws on a white background, and do not explicitly force a white background where appropriate. This is especially problematic for those of us who use dark color schemes (e.g. the "Obsidian Coast" scheme from the standard collection that comes with KDE).

Such webpages are very common, e.g. http://imagebin.ca/ or http://www.nahverkehr-schwerin.de/. We cannot do anything about how people write their sites, so please use white (i.e. #FFF) as default base background color for webpages.

Even better, make it configurable: Some people might still prefer the background color from their color scheme. But my central proposal for now is to make white the default ASAP, as the current behavior can be considered buggy because it misrenders a plenty of sites (from the user's perspective!).

Above reasoning also explains why I'm filing this as a bug, even if a configurable background color would be considered a wishlist item.
