from kde 4.0 till now, the "Places" view in dolphin is not changed. there is only ONE little change that could improve the usability of this powerfull panel: and it is the grouping of the various elements. Let me explain better with this image:

on the left, the current version of dolphin.

on the right, there is my idea.
