In the album view, the image thumb bar is shown at the bottom of the
window. In the editor, it is shown on the left. I wish it were possible
to move the thumb bar to my preferred position either by dragging it
to where I want it, or by via some option in the settings dialog. (I
could not find any such option, but apologies if I missed it.)

I have a wide screen monitor, as do over 40% of PC users if the
statistics here are accurate:

I prefer the left-hand-side position used in the editor over the bottom
position in the album view. Most of my photos have a 4:3 or 3:2 aspect
ratio. For landscape orientated images shown full-screen neither ratios
are wide enough to use the full width of the 16:9 screen, so there is
space to the left and right to show the thumb bar. For portrait
orientated images, the is even more space to the left and right. Forcing
the thumb bar to appear of the bottom of the screen makes very poor use
of the available space.

Had I a 4:3 aspect ratio, then the bottom position would probably make
sense for 3:2 (and maybe 4:3) aspect ratio, landscape orientated images,
but would still not make sense for 3:2 or 4:3 images in portrait
orientation. I think an option to position the thumb bar on the top,
bottom, left, or right of the different viewing contexts (album, editor,
light table, showphoto, etc.) would not only be trivial to implement,
but would also allow users with displays of different sizes and aspect
ratios (4:3, 5:4, 16:9, 16:10 are common) to make the best use of their
screen space.
