Bug 192242

Summary: Album rename sometimes doesn't show existing album name in dialog
Product: [Applications] digikam Reporter: Vincent Petry <PVince81>
Component: Albums-MainViewAssignee: Digikam Developers <digikam-bugs-null>
Status: RESOLVED WORKSFORME
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Version: 0.10.0
Target Milestone: ---
Platform: openSUSE
OS: Linux
Latest Commit: Version Fixed In: 1.0.0

Description Vincent Petry 2009-05-10 16:39:42 UTC
Version: 0.10.0 (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

Steps to reproduce:
1. Right click on any album.
2. Select "Rename" in the context menu.

Expected result:
The rename dialog contains the album's name, so it can be edited.

Actual result:
The rename dialog is empty, and I must type in the album name from scratch.

More information:
After closing the rename dialog, invoke it again for the currently selected album, then it will contain the album name.

The problem is that the first time the rename dialog is empty, which makes it unconvenient to rename dialogs where the user wishes to change only part of the name.

I tested this intensively now for every single album in my collections over the last 2 days, I can not confirm this for 1.0.0-x.
I'd like to close this one now, maybe it was a bug in digiKam-0.10, but it is definitely solved.

Vincent,
if you can confirm it again with a newer version (latest is digiKam-1.0.0-beta4), feel free to re-open this report again.

Sorry for not checking/updating this bug earlier.

I had a similar bug when renaming files in dolphin and filed it as https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20145

It turned out it was related to the skim input method, which is described here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=188533

So after updating skim the problem disappeared in dolphin, and also can't be reproduced in digikam 0.10.0.
