On an up-to date-Kubuntu with KDE 4.2.2 click on the panel "cashew" to change the panel behaviour.

Click on "height" and drag it down, so that the panel height gets smaller and smaller. At s certain height , when the panel is smaller than the icons, it crashes reproducible.

Ah - I just saw in Ubuntu Launchpad that the Launchpad bug is linked to Bug 179156 - So maybe my bug here is a dupe of that one (although at the first glance It doesn't seem to me so)

already fixed in trunk + current Qt; in future, providing a backtrace of the crash along with the report is very helpful for us.
