Error message after batch rename of files/directory

Description Alexandre Racine 2009-05-05 02:55:41 UTC
Version: 0.10.0 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.28-11-generic

I'll add some capture below.

Capture1 : Everything is working great.
Capture2 : Rename a folder. Here I add a "1".
Capture3 : Press F5 and this is the result.

You can even put back the old folder name and press F5, the thumbnails will get back. The other solution is to restart digikam.

Alexandre,

Start digiKam from a console, and try again. Look all message printed and report here please.

@4 - Gilles, this is known problem coming from .thumbnails protocol (and this report is duplicate). After name change paths to images are changed and there are no thumbnails for "new" images. digiKam just have to recreate all thumbanils for those "new" images.

digiKam could probably be a bit smarter and detect folder name change (at least when done inside of app) and not recreate thumbnails but just rename thumbnails from .thumbnails directory.

This has been fixed some weeks ago...
Please try the latest SVN build if possible.

For me it doesn't work. After renaming of album thumbnails are recreated. You can see difference by renaming and renaming back. After first renaming there is visible delay when showing thumbs. When renaming back thumbs are shown instantly.

Sorry, forgot to write: I use 0.11svn from 2.05.2009.
Comment 10 Andi Clemens 2009-05-05 19:43:30 UTC
But this report is not about some delay, it is about missing thumbnails (and the restart of digikam to fix it).

Sorry for noise :(

In my case this is fixed. Revert to unconfirmed...

For me in current iconview it doesn't work... but it did before :D
Don't know with new ModelView yet... does it really work for you?
Comment 14 caulier.gilles 2009-05-25 08:36:51 UTC
F5 is broken there. It' due to new icon view code.

But i'm sure that with old icon view code, it work fine.

Yes, I'm sure it worked, but who knows if it still does?
We should wait until we can actually use this action again :-)

The same (broken thumbnails) for me (digiKam 0.10.0) every time after renaming a photos or directory using 'batch file rename' menu in digiKam, and also cannot open renamed photos in image editor too -- error dialog is shown. See screenshot, please.

This issue should be fixed now.

Michal,
I guess the fix was too late for digiKam 0.10. Can you try with the latest SVN checkout?
But anyway I'm sure it is fixed so I will close this one now. If the problem still exists in the latest SVN checkout, feel free to re-open it again.
Here I can not confirm it anymore.
