Hello,

Kopete will only try A/AAAA DNS lookups to connect to a Jabber/XMPP
server. If the domain uses SRV records, the only way to connect is to
lookup the server manually, e.g. with dig, and hard-code it in the
Kopete configuration. This is not very convenient. Pidgin has no such
problem.

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
