Description Aiden Deem 2009-04-29 13:22:54 UTC
Version: 2.0.81 (using 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.28-11-generic

From my previous version of Kile (prior to 2.1) text was dynamically wrapped by default.

Upon conversion to Kile 2.1, there was no word wrap by default.

Firstly, I went to Tools->Word wrap.

All of my long comments were now on multiple lines as expected, but the % was not appended to the start of the line. This caused many problems in my thesis document.
Furthermore, it would be useful if an undo command was available to undo the word wrap, because once I saw the problem I wanted to undo the automatic word wrap.

I then discovered the dynamic word wrap in the Kile settings->Editor+appearance menu.
But this was NOT next to the static word wrap setting. I really think that they should be together in a single settings window.

See also bug 105373. It's not quite a dupe because of the other suggestions about Kile's options.

This may be confusing, change the title to reflect what this report really is about and mark as wish. It's not a bug after all, and the part about the comments is bug #105373.
Comment 3 Shriramana Sharma 2012-07-26 12:37:48 UTC
I disagree with the OP's request to group of Dynamic Word Wrap and Static Word Wrap together in the Settings dialog. Currently the Dynamic Word Wrap is under Appearance settings and Static Word Wrap is under Editing settings. This is 100% correct, because Dynamic Word Wrap only affects how the document is *displayed* and does not affect the contents of the document, whereas Static Word Wrap actually affects the contents of the document because it introduces linebreaks in specific positions. Therefore I request for this bug to be closed as WONTFIX.

Yes, #3 is true. On the other hand is the wish to have it all at one place
valid. Currently are BTW the menu entries all in "View->Word Wrap".
A solution for the config page may to add an own main section for that, like
Font&Colors.
Comment 5 Christoph Cullmann 2022-10-02 17:27:05 UTC
I don't see us introducing an extra group/page for this.
#3 is valid and I think this can stay as is.
