I just upgraded to Kubuntu 9.04, and it is MUCH slower than 8.11. I don't know if this is related to my Dolphin problem or not. Thanks for the bug report! This issue is known already, it is a Strigi bug (fixed now in trunk) which causes a crash when viewing the Properties of the root directory ("/") or a special directory like "trash:/".

It's most likely not related. You should ask the Kubuntu people about this problem.
