I am running KDE on opensuse 11 from the KDE:/KDE4:/UNSTABLE:/ repository.  I also have the latest Qt4.5 from KDE:/Qt45.

After an upgrade a few days ago, popups from the panels only show borders, the K menu suffers the same, krunner is also only border and the clock on the desktop has no background.  Krunner still works as expected if you start typing away, but you can't of course not click on anything.  That makes the menu and most of the popups/extenders useless.  The task bar also suffers from this borders only thing.

if you change Plasma themes does it rectify itself?

if not, if you `rm -f ~/.kde/cache-*/plasma-svgelement* ~/.kde/cache-*/kpc/plasma*` does that help?

this has been fixed in Qt.
