Renamed the request for clarity. This seams useless giving that most shells have aliases and and history searching (usually ctrl+r). However if you really want a GUI menu, I think this would need to be addressed in the konsole kpart not yakuake so I think the product should be set to konsole. It's possible to address this in Yakuake, though I share your concerns about the utility of it. Hello, Eike! Yakuake is a great application, and this was the only reason why I moved from Windows to Linux year ago. I also need this feature with favorites. I'll describe, how I see it in my imagination... It should be not as menu, but as a bookmark panel in Firefox. First I thought that it should be below the console, near tabs panel. But now I understand, that in this case user will need to make additional mouse move to the down of the console. Perhaps position of favorites panel and tab panel should be configurable in Yakuake settings?.. To any command in this favorites panel user should be able to assign any Icon and Title in Yakuake settings. Work with Yakuake looks like the following: user moves mouse cursor to the top of the screen and Yakuake console appears with a favorites panel on top of it. User chooses one bookmark with a blue icon and a title "MC" and Midnight Commander starts in Yakuake. If a user choosed another icon with title "SSH:user@domain.com/home/user/", connection to SSH starts in Yakuake. BTW, I see that Konsole has bookmarks, but only for folders, not for commands... And they are implemented as a menu, not as panel, this is bad for me. I never used Konsole as a program without Yakuake, so I think that this feature should be implemented in Yakuake. PS: sorry for my bad English :) This would be a very useful feature. Yes there are history and alias built into shells but the problem is not everyone uses yakuake for a single machine. I work in a data center with thousands of machines and am constantly having to enter the same command on may different machines over ssh, history and aliases are useless in this case. Adding a right-click menu tree that custom commands could be added to would be very useful. Also if features like key-press emulation and/or input rate limits so that commands are not garbled on slow console connection would be helpful for this type of feature. This kind of functionality is built into the right-click menu of terminator but I prefer the drop down functionality and look of yakuake. |
