How to produce:
 - Click on the kicker launcher
 - Start typing

There isn't any instant focus to the search textbox in kicker.

In Windows Vista/7 for example, when you click on the start icon, you are able to start typing instantly in the textfield.

I think this would make the kicker application a lot quicker to launch applications with.
