Description Roland Leißa 2009-04-16 14:50:45 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

1. Connect a second monitor
2. Go to system settings->display

-> The monitor is not detected. Even if you restart X there is still no second monitor shown to configure

Had same results with a Notebook GeForce 9600 M and 180.44 drivers and desktop pc with GeForce 8800 GT and some 170.x drivers (can't remember exact version).

still valid in kde 4.4 rc 1

NVidia binary drivers still do not support XRandR, right? Could you try with nouveau drivers?

yeah, thats, true.

> Could you try with nouveau drivers?
sorry, too lazy ;)

AFAIK gnome's display settings detects that nvidia's binary driving is running and says sth like "bla bla can't chage resolution because bla bla" and then you have a button where you can launch nvidia-settings. Perhaps this would be a nice option for kde, too?
