Description Tamás Németh 2009-04-15 15:57:25 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

When I add a program to the favourites section of the kickoff style KDE menu
(at leas in KDE4), the lower part, showing the categories will disappear. It
will reappear only after quiting and invoking the KDE menu again. This doesn't
happen alway, maybe only when the KDE menu is relatively short, or has
relatively few items on it.

You are in the search mode that hides the categories Tab and only shows the results of the query. Removing the text on the search textedit will fix it.
However,
You searched first and then you added to the Favourites list, so the searchbar remained with its text (in "search mode"), but showing the Favourites tab.

This seems to be a duplicate of bug 170605
