Bug Description ---------------------------

This is not a bug but a missing feature.
It is not possible to open a file in the editor by dropping
it from a kfm-window.
This is a problem only when opening files that do not belong
to the current project.

How to repeat the error -------------------



Bugfix or Workaround ----------------------

Use the open dialog.
As the dialog usually starts in the home directory there may
be a lot of dirs to traverse.

If this is even relevant anymore, it's certainly not the place of katepart to implement, it's up to kdevelop... unless I'm missing something?

yes, i don't think kate part should handle that, too, kdevelop issue

Well, you're right, kdevelop moved on a bit from v1.0beta2 - if the "problem" still persists, it's rather time for a new post.
I mark it as resolved, though "no longer applies" or "out of date" would fit better.

Is this still true ? At least for a C++ project, I can drag'n'drop a file from somewhere within KDE into the kdevelop editor window and it will be opened even if it does not belong to my current project.

Right. This was implemented a month or so back on 3.4 branch. Fixed. :)
