in laptops with french keyboard when we type with capslock enabled we cannot type the numbers but the ^letters . To type the numbers we have to keep shift pressed and with the other hand type the numbers. This is very unconfortable, so i propose an option in systemsettings for frenche laptop keybords to change the behavor with capslock enabled.

Can you try to set your French layout with setxkbmap and see if problem still there, because if it is that will be the problem with the key mapping (defined in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/...) and you'd have to file a bug against xkeyboard-config project at freedesktop.org

i searched a little, finaly is the default behavour of the linux keyboard. Here in the forum of ubuntu it has a guide to enable the numbers with the capslock

i finally can found the desired behavour in kde, by enabling the "capslock toggles shift so all keys are affected" and after i check the "capslock acts as shift with locking. Shift "pauses" CapsLock"

(my wife wants absolutely this "windows" behavour, for her laptop)

* the only problem is that with this change we dont have the é,è,ç on uppercase

Cool, I am glad you've found some options that help. Though if something is still not quite the way you want it you'd have to work with xkeyboard-config project (http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/XKeyboardConfig), if there's still some keys that does not work as needed you can file a bug on http://bugs.freedesktop.org

I am going to close this bug as kde keyboard module does not deal with key maps.
