I experience quite the opposite behaviour of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172980 . The explicit showing works, however my contacts still sees it even if I used the the first choice (explicit). 

However, this only happens when no specific player is selected.

Contrary to what I have said, the automatic showing comes back after reboot, even if a specific player is selected. It does not seem to come back after simply quitting and reentering kopete.
