After logging in (i have a msn account), when I talk to somebody he does great, but when my contact talks to me, kopete just crash.

is there any conflict with something else? I just installed Linux Mint 6 KDE.
I enabled compiz, and disabled KWin with fusion-icon...

I guess your contact is using "emesene" as MSN client.
There is a bug in "libmsn" (which Kopete uses) and the emesene implementation.
In that case, this is a duplicate of bug 179425
